Born in Glasgow, Hamish Robertson moved with his family to the city of Milan, Italy, at the age of 12. He completed his Secondary education at the International School of Milan and returned to Scotland in 2001 to attend the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated with a first class honours degree in Business Studies in 2005.
During his time at university, he was involved in several start-up projects, finally setting up robertson technologies in his final year to provide online data backup services to businesses in Edinburgh.
Since 2005, robertson technologies has transformed from a data backup provider to a full service IT company, which acts as the IT Department for numerous small and medium sized business across the UK. Their services include computer support, hardware & software supply, internet access, data backup, consulting and IT training.
In 2009, robertson technologies launched a franchise operation, aiming to create a nationwide brand which provides computer support services to businesses. Four territories have been awarded in 2010 alone, with another two likely to be awarded by December of this year.
In 2008, Hamish was awarded the title of Edinburgh’s PSYBT Young Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as being short listed for the National Award. In 2010, he was highlighted as a Rising Star in the Scottish Business Insider magazine.
Hamish lives with his wife, Christine, in the South of Edinburgh. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football and squash, as well as developing a keen interest in fly fishing.
